Based on the book of the same name by Dan Simmons, The Terror follows the 1845 Franklin Expedition on their search for the Northwest Passage. Choices are made and not long into their journey both ships become trapped in the Arctic ice. Along with the many practical challenges of being stranded the crew soon start to suspect the polar bear pursuing them may be something more sinister.
